Sheriff’s Department

I always wanted to be a cop.  For approximately twelve years I worked for the Ogle County Sheriff's Department, Oregon, IL.  I was fortunate to join a progressive department headed by Sheriff Jerry Brooks.  My career included time as a patrol deputy, investigator and administrator.  As anyone who ever worked in law enforcement I've lots of good memories and a few that aren't so good.  It goes with the turf.  Certainly one of the highlights of my career was attending the FBI National Academy, 129th Session, a three month program sponsored by the FBI for local law enforcement officers.  In 1978, work began on construction of a nuclear power plant in Ogle County.  Little did l know that my involvement with the nuclear plant on behalf of the Sheriff's Department would eventually take me away from it.  But career choices are made and the rest, as they say is history.  The Sheriff's Department in Ogle County still has some of my old friends on it.  What a great bunch they were/are.
