This is the colonial church in Nicoya. The parish was founded in 1522 and this church
built in the 1630s. My wife and I were married in this church in 1973. The
church is a national historic site and has been restored to the colonial period.
There are many old and beautiful artifacts. |
The Nicoya Church is depicted on several Costa Rican postage stamps. I wrote an article
that was published in the "Oxcart", the quarterly publication of the Society
of Costa Rica Collectors (SOCORICO). The Oxcart issue was #106 published in
1987. If you would like to read the article please click on the link. |
