The 25th of july is a national holiday celebrating the annexation of Guanacaste to Costa Rica.  These pictures are from a parade 25 july 2005 of dance groups who gave exhibitions.  Several of the groups were visiting from other countries e.g. Mexico, Cuba and Nicaragua.

To celebrate the national holiday the President of Costa Rica traditionally holds his cabinet meeting in the central park of Nicoya.  President Pacheco, in white shirt, is in the center of the first picture.
